One therapeutic  tool that you can use to honour your feelings and nurture your heart is the "grief jar." What is a Grief Jar? A grief jar is a physical container, such as a jar, box, or vase, that you use to collect and acknowledge your emotions during times of grief and loss. It serves as a reminder of your feelings and experiences, allowing you to connect, express and process your emotions safely and intentionally. This can give some comfort and overwhelming time.

How to Create Your Grief Jar:

  1. Choose a Container: Select a container that resonates with you - it could be a mason jar, a decorative box, or any vessel that speaks to your heart. Make sure it's something that you feel comfortable and connected to.

  2. Decorate Your Jar: Personalise your grief jar to make it your own. You can decorate it with meaningful quotes, pictures, or symbols that bring you comfort and solace. This is your sacred space for healing.

  3. Write Your Thoughts and Feelings: Whenever you feel overwhelmed by emotions, take a moment to write down your thoughts and feelings on a small piece of paper. It could be a memory, a message to your loved one, or simply a reflection on your grief journey.

  4. Place Your Notes in the Jar: Fold your notes and place them gently into your grief jar. Each note represents a piece of your heart and soul, allowing you to release and honour your emotions tangibly. You can revisit these notes whenever you feel the need to connect with your feelings.

  5. Visit Your Grief Jar as often as you can:  Try to make it a habit to check in with your grief jar regularly. Take time to reflect on your notes, acknowledge your emotions, and offer yourself compassion and understanding. Your grief jar is a sacred space for you to process and heal.The grief jar is a simple yet powerful tool for nurturing your emotions and honouring your grief journey. By creating a physical container for your feelings, you can find solace and comfort in expressing and acknowledging your emotions. Remember that healing takes time, and it's okay to seek support from loved ones or a therapist along the way. Your grief jar is a reflection of your resilience and strength as you navigate the complexities of grief and loss. May it serve as a source of healing and hope on your journey towards healing.
