“Why grief can feel different from one day to the next”

Grief can feel different from one day to the next. Some days may feel manageable, while others can feel unexpectedly heavy. There is no right way to experience grief, and no set timeline for how it should look.

You may find that on the outside, you are functioning, but inside, things feel very different. This can be confusing and can feel isolating.

If this resonates with you, please know you are not alone in this experience.

Some days, grief feels heavier than others, and that can be confusing. You might seem okay on the outside, but feel completely overwhelmed on the inside. I want you to know this is completely normal, and there is nothing wrong with you.

Whether you are feeling disconnected, exhausted, guilty, or angry, or finding it hard to get out of bed on some days, these feelings are valid. There is no timeline with grief, which is why you can feel fine on some days and completely overwhelmed on others. If you are going through these emotions right now, you are adapting, not failing. Grief is not something to fix.

There is a myth that we should be able to get on with our lives after a few months, and this can leave you feeling lonely and unsure, not wanting to bother friends and family, as you may feel you should be in a better place by now. Does this feel like you at the moment?

I want you to know that you don’t have to carry it alone, and there is nothing wrong with wanting to share your feelings with someone outside of your friends or family. It doesn’t mean that you don’t value their support or friendship.

If this feels like you, and you want to find out about counselling, I offer a 15-minute discovery call, with no obligation, where you can decide if this is right for you.

You are not alone in this. I am here to help. https://newdirectiontherapies.com/
